When they were young, Enki didn't know who they were. They didn't like their own nocturne nature, the thing inside them that made them conform to the dragons around them. They suffered from a lack of identity and sought comfort in Jem, a tundra who takes in dragons who have nowhere else to go. Although Jem themselves prefer soft and lovely things, when they noticed that Enki seemed drawn to snakes and other creepy-crawlies, they encouraged it. Enki found that they were fascinated with the ways animals worked. They liked to dissect dead animals they found, examine their bones. With Jem's help, they learned to hold onto that identity and nurture it.

Now they spend their days with toads and bones and have cultivated a small museum of specimens, which attracts scientists and dragons with somewhat morbid dispositions. Their dual fascination with both life and death helped them forge a friendship with Moscato; Enki will talk about the scientific side of death while Moscato waxes philosophical, a combination that makes for some very interesting discussions. Despite the distinct difference between their aesthetics, he still wears Jem's lovely cloak. He doesn't mind being influenced by them.
