Biography
NOTE: MoonRun, SalixWaltz (mostly greens, touches of yellows, blues): Kora (fairly random)
As a child, Tarquinius was adventurous and fearless. This was rather in contrast to most of his clan. It was also slightly intimidating to others, as a random Plague dragon exploring without parents was presumed to be abandoned and possibly a carrier of some dire illness or parasite.
He found this both amusing and distressing. Having inherited some of the gregarious and gentle nature of his mother, he tended to be more social than the average Mirror, and the regular outright rejection and fear that he encountered could be dismaying.
Then, considering if he wanted to seek an apprenticeship, he felt someone watching him and turned to meet the gaze of WitCloud. Something about the older dragon spoke to him, though he was to shy to say anything aloud; mostly because if he did, it would have been something silly like "you seem like family" and what a Tundra-esk thing to say that would be. When he did meet MoonRun, she did indeed tell him that he smelled like family. And then she said "I've been waiting for you." In a tone that made him suddenly not mind the idea of growing up.
Tarquinius' name comes from one of the few carnivorous butterflies found in the US; Feniseca Tarquinius also called the harvester butterfly. Their larvae eat woolly aphids, and perform a useful ecological role. One that of course is not appreciated by the prey. |
