Fall

Fall was never quite sure how she or her siblings came to be. By the time they hatched, their parents were long gone. Stick together, then, was the most obvious solution. They needed to stick together and survive on their own as a group. They didn't know who was oldest, but Fall was the biggest, and she was therefore deemed the leader.
Under her care and guidance, her siblings learned to fight and prosper in the tight-knit jungle of the Shrieking Wilds. They thrived, gathering enough treasure through trade to go to schools. To meet new dragons and go to new places. And Fall herself... well, she wasn't very outspoken. Or even very enthusiastic about much of anything. Her whole life had been about her siblings. And when they started going off on their own...
They tried their hardest to get her engaged with something- or someone- new. One offered to let her move in with his new family, another offered (and tried) to set her up with attractive dragons that she could settle down with. But nothing worked. She was just too quiet, too big, too intimating, too noncommittal, and too buggy to settle down in the way that her smaller siblings had. To try and not burden them any longer- she couldn't stand seeing them putting their lives aside for her- she left towards The Mire to work as a hired guard.
It was slow going at first, but she made plenty of money in time. But protecting strangers was one thing. Protecting family was another. And she could never find complete happiness in her work. She did it to pass the time. To make her siblings not worry about what she was doing (not very successful once they found out exactly where she was). And to make a little bit of treasure. It wasn't until she found Emry and saved it from a wartoad that she felt happy again.
She fell as head over heels as a stoic, unexpressive bug dragons can. And dedicated all of her time to the other dragon. Made sure it was comfortable. Made sure its wounds were covered and properly tended to. And even brought it gifts every now and then, which it was always baffled by (its confusion was endearing, and Fall treasured every time that it scolded her for bringing it goodies). It took her an embarrassing amount of time to admit her feelings to Emry, but she's glad that she did. The two now work together, and Fall finally feels at home again.
