✧ The Telescope Builder ✧

Celeste was once a solitary dragon, content to wander the glowing blossoms of the Starwood Strand alone. While she often got lost among the confusing blooms, this never perturbed her; she was capable of taking care of herself anywhere in the Strand and seldom felt the need to stay in one area for long. All of her possessions were kept in a pack she carried.

She would sleep during the day, and at night she would wind her way up through the bright leaves and observe the heavens through a telescope of her own making. The telescope was made of gleaming silver, with ornate runes and decorations carved into the shaft. While small in size, due to a combination of magic and impeccable craftsmanship, it could be used to gaze deeply into the night sky.

One evening, Celeste wandered into another clan's territory and was spotted by an unfamiliar dragon. It was not unusual for her to bump into strange dragons, but she would typically provide a single, gruff greeting before slipping back into the trees. This particular dragon, however, was immediately fascinated by her telescope, and delightedly asked if he could look through it. She obliged, charmed by his genuine interest, and he peered into it.

With a gasp he exclaimed that it was the finest telescope he had ever seen. He begged her to spend the night in his clan's lair. He explained that they had many telescopes and star charts, and that he would be honored if she would take a look at them.

Celeste hesitated, wanting to decline, but he was so exuberant that she agreed to join him. That night, she tinkered with various astronomical devices and pored over star charts, laughing and theorizing with the group of astronomers. The dragons were all amazed by her ability to upgrade almost any telescope she touched, and by the end of the night many found themselves leaving with their telescopes and charts vastly improved.

Since that night, Celeste has always found her way back to Clan Stargloam. Yet she is known to simply vanish without explanation for days or months at a time; deep down, she remains a wanderer. When she is home, she builds beautiful telescopes of varied sizes and complexity. Occasionally she travels to neighboring clans to sell her creations.
