• he used to be a guardian until he suffered a wound too grievous to recount here
• suffice to say. he's not very happy about his current predicament, but he still guards his charge with as much ferocity and devotion as he did before the change, perhaps even moreso now that he can no longer rely on his size to an effective shield against attacks
• he's duty bound to protect ransetsu and by the eleven he'll do exactly that until he's relieved of his duty by death itself
• not his, mind you. he's fated to keep coming back until his charge passes. he's known that it would be so since he was a hatchling, that this was the blessing (or curse) of his bloodline
• his ancestor's charge bestowed this gift onto them and they're very likely still out there... wherever they might be. nobody knows for certain
