ABOUT
Apophis’s bloodstained heritage is something to speak of, that’s for sure (nothing much! just a hired assassin-slash-mage as a father, and quite literally a serial killer for a grandfather!). His parents were careful enough to raise him well, explaining the Shade to him and assisting him in managing and manipulating the abyss inside of him. And then when he grew more curious about his ancestry, his father very carefully brought him to visit his grandfather, Scorpius. There was where Apophis learned the most — not about preventing the Shade, but embracing it.

Once he decided to leave the Shattered for his grandfather’s clan, Apophis refurbished an old tangle of brambles into a warmly lit tavern completely unlike what one would expect from the Tangled Wood and became an influential and notably wealthy tavern keeper, running the tavern along with his cousin Katsumi. 		y1ib5Xu.png
nQz8mt1.png No outsider had ever noticed anything odd about the gracious purple Imperial at the tavern counter; no oppressive shadow similar to that which Shade-touched dragons are told to have. He’d even had Shade hunters under his roof, and although Apophis vehemently despised them, he said nothing, and they did not suspect a thing.

And yet, in the night, Apophis would sneak away from his tavern draped in a formless black cloak. He would set up ritualistic devices, and he would pick up a beloved familiar long deceased, their owner frantically begging him to revive it. Apophis enjoyed the rush of confliction inside of him; the abyss, and his natural Shadow magic. It made him exhilarated by the power, and yet he wasn’t going on a killing rampage — quite the opposite. He dabbled in something considered just as taboo as murder; but why should necromancy be so terrible?
