Clarinet is a skilled scavenger, usually seeking for materials and food in the darkest parts of the night. He is not fond of the daylight, typically finding refuge in a cave or amongst a thick throng of brambles in order to sleep away the day. His favorite place to scavenge is the thick forests along the Leviathan’s Teeth, the huge mountains that protect the southern coast of the island.

Even thought Clarinet was born a water dragon, he was blessed by the Shadowbinder with a piece of her dark, shadowy ooze one night when he was doing his usual scavenging. It was when he saw the bat, Dirk, with a broken wing, flapping helplessly on the ground. Typically he would let life take its course, but he felt that there was something unique about the creature and flew down to help it. Using vines and sticks, he was able to create a brace for it after carefully resetting its wing bones. The bat was eternally grateful, and the Shadowbinder granted its desire to serve the Noc for the rest of its life. The bat then bit Clarinet on the neck to bind himself to the Noc, causing Shadowbinder ooze to spread over parts of his body. The Noc named the bat Dirk and thanked the Shadowbinder for her blessing. 		Mate:
