Artemis

Artemis flew in like a leaf on the wind (you're imagining a gracefully gliding dragon, right? Think again, remember how leaves float every which way, blown by the wind with no say in which path they go.) She adjusted her goggles and crash-landed in a heap in front of the tree. I've been flying for a year and a half now, why can't I get it right? She thought to herself in frustration, though she didn't show it on the outside, she simply picked herself up, dusted herself off, and joined the rest of the trainees. Artemis stared straight ahead as Turi, the leader of the Mistral Mail Brigade paced by, she watched out of the corner of her eye as the leader slowly made her way down the line of dragons, then circling back to her. Turi stopped in front of Artemis and stood there just enough to make Artemis uncomfortable then said, "See me afterwards." Artemis' heart dropped, "Yes m'am," she replied, choking the words around the lump in her throat.

After training that day, Artemis headed over to Turi, dread weighing her legs down like lead. As she neared, Turi gestured for her to follow, she led Artemis away from the group. "Listen," Turi began, "I know you're trying your hardest, but I really don't think you're cut out for this, I'm concerned about your well-being."
