Biography

Named after the Pekin Willow (salix matsudana) which is known for its curling branches. Other common names include "Corkscrew Willow", "Curly Willow", and "Hankow Willow".
This interesting plant originates from China/Korea and has stunning branches that twist and coil akin to a corkscrew.

The scientific name was in honor of Japanese botanist Sadahisa Matsudo, author of one of the first taxonomy texts in China.
