Carnelian

One night, a basket containing an egg was found on the steps of the castle next to two unconscious guards. There was a note claiming to be from one of the lost princes, one of Cadence’s children. The note pleaded for the castle to take the egg in, as the father couldn’t bear to be seen with it. It claimed he would hatch to be a monster. The perturbed grandparents took the egg in regardless, and a nature-gifted hatchling was born. He had an extremely gentle disposition, exuding empathy and kindness to even the smallest of bugs. He captivated the hearts of all who knew him, and still does to this day.

Carnelians grandparents only sometimes get a little twinge of hurt when they see him: he bears such a striking resemblance to the way his father did before he disappeared in the night. Carnelian pretends he does not know this.

Carnelian is an extremely gifted alchemist. Since the first moment he laid eyes on a cauldron his mind had filled with such a vast wealth of knowledge. He is able to transmute even the trickiest of compounds without breaking a sweat, simply humming and thumping his tail along to some tune he’d heard the court bard, Clove, sing earlier that day. To say he was enamored with the wildclaw would be an understatement.
