I was never one for essays.



tl;dr: it’s been real
  • I am a daughter of immigrants who has struggled to connect with her family. I had never thought to compare my life experiences to cartoon dragon lore. It does not offend.
  • It was unreasonable for users to get outraged over an “out of the loop” joke and frankly disappointing to see the devs submit to them in the end.
  • <sad wojak> You think my people are a hive mind?
  • Even worse were users’ smug, backhanded praise about the devs “trying to be better”.
  • This sort of exchange has been observed before: see also the Wendigo and Stonestomp/Swiftstride enemies, Coffee Bean Hawkmoth, etc
  • I guess I have nothing to say except that as I grow as a thingmaker, I hope I won’t develop this dynamic with my audience. It’s unhealthy on both sides.
  • I’m gonna go brush up on my Tagalog now.
