Bastion

Bastion is a quiet and mysterious dragon, preferring to show with action rather than speech. On the outside, he may appear emotionless and cold, but if one looks closer, a minuscule smile rests upon his face, mostly covered by his mask. He is actually quite polite if someone speaks to him, and will greet them with a smile accompanied by nod. Nobody really knows why he's here and how he got here in the first place - it is one of his many secrets. Bastion is a water mage, despite being an ice dragon. The practice of elemental magic piqued his interest a certain period of time ago, and he has been practicing every day to sustain his abilities. With a flick of his hand, the ocean water may rise and evaporate up into the the clouds, while doing a specific hand signal would cause a downpour. Bastion usually uses his powers for fun, fiddling around with a small puddle and such, but when it is absolutely needed, he will discreetly work his magic to help fellow dragons, his powers ranging from refilling a hatchling's sippy cup to raining on a hot summer day. When the other dragons exclaim and celebrate about the miracle, Bastion simply stands to the side and watches with a small, satisfied smile on his face.

Something happened. No one is quite sure what, as Bastion is so disinclined to chat, but something spurred Bastion to abandon his previous life.

As he explored the Glittering City, he came across Imalthia, a tough and sturdy laborer and tradesman, and convinced her to become his personal protection. He left with her to her homestead - a modest structure, complete with a workshop and a bit of land in an expanse of fields and brush. There he met a governess and her charges, and there he's lived since - quietly, and protected.

Bastion still ventures about at Imalthia's side, journeying to new places, revisiting old ones, but always with Imalthia's careful guardianship. Her gaze is steady and distant as she watches him, like there are many thoughts churning behind her eyes - something tugging at her heart. Something important.
