It’s a cold and foggy morning, but Polar is up bright and early to do some foraging. He drags himself out of his lair and into the snow, looking for anything to eat for him and his clan. And his perseverance pays off! Polar finds some frozen rabbits, catches a few fatty fish and finds some big juicy beetles. But for the plant eaters, he finds nothing. Polar brings his haul back to the clan, and promises those who only eat plants that he’s going back out there immediately. So, without eating something himself, he hurries back into the cold to find more food.

It’s been snowing for months now, the food situation has never been this bad before. Polar still remembers how abundant everything was when the clan first arrived here. But in the last couple of years, everything seemed to be getting less and less. And while the clan tried as they might, they never found the reason why everything was drying up so suddenly. Slowly, dragons started to leave. To seek a new home, with more food to support their families. The leaders of the clan tried their best to keep the clan together, but they couldn’t stop the others from leaving. And eventually, they left too. One day, they were just gone, leaving only a handful of dragons on the old clan grounds, Polar included. The remaining dragons however, decided to stay. And so, they go on, without a leader, but with a designated task for everybody. And Polar is the designated collector of food, mostly because of his white hide that makes him blend in with the snow perfectly. Predators or enemy dragons will have to look real hard to spot him.

Polar treks the snowy landscapes for a while, when he finds them. A field of thistles. Dry, but tall flowers. Hard to eat, but delicious when eaten. That’s a perfect meal! He plucks them, and brings them home.

The clan can survive for another day.
