"You will see me struggle but you will never see me fall." In the midst of love and war there were those born to prey, and those born to be preyed upon. There was no holding back when it came to survival, for only the fittest should be allowed to live. The others deserved to die, their bodies made to be toss aside and devoured. Ankt was born to be preyed upon. In a nest of fertile soil she was the only egg left behind, for she had not hatched in due time and the small plant that signified the life force of nature eggs was wilted and dead upon her shell. When she did manage to hatch, the predators of the night circled the nest, waiting for what they thought was a helpless bit of prey to emerge. Quietly Ankt hid within a hollow of her nest. She waited there, unsure and uncertain of everything but the fact that she wanted to live. Her predators, a pack of Mirror dragons, grew hungry and impatient, and one day Ankt understood, through various signs from her grumbling stomach, that she must leave her shelter or die within it. She came forth unflinchingly. Her predators dove for her, but she was small and fast and she escaped into the forest. Once hidden from those who sought her for prey, she looked for others like her, for the parents she never knew, for someone, anyone, who could explain anything. But the forest was empty and silent, so Ankt learned to survive by herself. The laws of Nature taught her to kill or be killed. Her mistakes taught her what foods were safe to eat, where not to build shelter. She grew quickly, fighting off dangers left and right. She gained scars and she gained experience, and when the Mirror dragons came again for her, she was ready. They were much older and much more experienced, but Ankt was not scared. She did not run from their superior numbers and instead launched herself into battle. Her fangs and claws were sharp and merciless and they tore through scales and clashed against enemy claws. She threw herself at the leader of the pack and her fangs drove deeply into his neck. And in that moment everything changed, and Ankt evolved from prey to predator. Soon she was feared in the forest she lived in, and she traveled across the world, challenging wrongdoers to duels. In one occasion she saved a dragon who belonged to a clan nearby, and was invited to join the clan. Ankt was reluctant at first, but her curiosity drove her to agree. She moved into the lair and she became a part of them. Since then, Ankt earned herself the title of a warrior. She is the one who trains hatchlings to fight and always the first to engage the enemy in battle, whether it be alone or with others fighting at her side. The fighting in battles are always the fiercest around her, for enemy clans have long learned that if they wish to have a glimmer of hope for defeating this Shadow Clan, they must first defeat Ankt. Of course, that might very well be impossible, as Ankt has never backed down from a fight and she has never known to be defeated. In one such battle Ankt, in the midst of the vicious fight, saw a Nocturne dragon caring for the dead and dying, seeming unaware that he was in the middle of an ongoing fight. Though her attention was mostly riveted on the Snapper dragon who clearly thought he could use his superior weight to crush her, Ankt did not fail to catch the sorrow and determination in his eyes, the determination that drove him to help the fallen warriors at the risk of his own life. Something strange tugged at Ankt's heart, and after the battle she made up her mind to invite Osiris into the clan. He agreed, and Ankt felt that strange feeling once again, though she tried very hard to ignore it. She had duties to tend to, she kept reminding herself, and dragons to train. She should not let her attention be rooted by this strange Nocturne, whose diligence and care for those passed on gave her a very queer feeling. And it was a nice queer feeling, though it was not one she was familiar with. Though Ankt would rather not admit it, she cares very much for the clan that took her in and gave her a home. She would defend any of her clanmates to the death (well, one of them in particular) and she never forgives those who threaten her clan. She never forget an insult and quietly sets out on a warpath just when those offenders think they're safe. Her clanmates will have you know, Ankt is better a friend than your enemy, for if she's your enemy then she will most certainly be your demise.
