Hazelblight

Hazelblight has forgotten the sun, deep within the city that many have forgot.

Ashbane and Hazelblight remained, when so many ran.

They live among the tombs, among the crumbling bones of their ancient ancestors.

For so long, they kept to themselves, in the dust, in the dark, in the stillness.

But activity on the surface--for the first time in centuries--reminded them of the sun. Of the world outside their once-great city.

The newcomers are strange, to their eyes. But their coming is like a gentle dawn.

It awakens something, in their minds. A spark of curiosity, which soon grows into a consuming wildfire.

For the first time in centuries, Ashbane and Hazelblight lay a clutch.

Intrigued by the world outside their ancient home, they tell their hatchlings to venture forth: to find a new clan, to serve a deity in exaltation, to venture beyond the horizon where even the Earthshaker can no longer see them. What one knows, they all know. Knowledge and experience will be shared. Some will be lost, they know. Others will lead great lives.

Ashbane and Hazelblight venture to the surface, these days. Their hatchlings play in the sun, stretch their wings in preparation for the day when they will fly into that brilliantly blue sky, and see what lays beyond.
