Hero

It’s Hero’s dream to one day make a difference. She wants to be immortalized, to be knows across Sornieth. She wants to do something so brave, and so remarkable, that dragons will talk about it for centuries to come!

However, while Hero’s ambitions are big, his skills aren’t that big. Hero isn’t particularly smart or strong. And while she’s good at finding hatchlings while playing hide and seek, that doesn’t really translate to something big and powerful. That doesn’t really translate to anything. And Hero tries as she might, but she feels like she is going nowhere, and it eats at her morale. It’s making her doubt herself more and more, making her lose her usual chipper demeanor. Her self doubt cripples her more and more and more… Until she is but a shell of her former self, resigned to a life of mediocrity. Nothing special will ever happen to her.

As she’s once again playing hide and seek with the younglings, feigning her joy to not disappoint them, suddenly everything changes. A mother is yelling, screaming. The hatchlings come out of hiding, and another caretaker flies to the panicked mother. Hero immediately recognizes her as one of the clan’s oldest members, whose child attends this care center. She quickly counts all the hatchlings around her, and surmises that one is missing. But, after playing hide and seek for so many times, Hero knows exactly where to look for each individual child. She flies towards te hiding spot with great haste, and there she finds a small hatchling, sound asleep and curled up into a ball. Hero pokes the small kid awake. “Hey, your mother is looking for you, shall I bring you to her?” The sleepy hatchling nods, and Hero puts it on her back and flies back. Landing in front of the mother and the other caretaker, she puts the sleepy hatchling down.

“They fell asleep while playing hide and seek, nothing to worry about!”, Hero says triumphantly, as the mother hugs her child tightly.
