"Cooking is an art and I am the Picasso of the kitchen." ___________________________________________✧✧ Abandoned as a hatchling, Daimon was taken in to an orphanage and put to work in the kitchen. He would spend hours over a hot stove making meals for hundreds of hungry mouths. The work was grueling and thankless. However, it sparked a passion for cooking within Daimon. As he grew more independent he took to foraging, bargaining, and working odd jobs to pay for more exotic ingredients. As his tastes become more refined, Daimon started to refuse more meals that did not suit his palate, growing gaunt and sickly. Hungry and frustrated, Daimon made the regrettable decision to start pick-pocketing. One of his targets, a wealthy, plump, white-scaled Snapper, happened to catch Diamon in the act of stealing his gold pocket watch. Outraged, the Snapper threatened to have the offending limb cut off. Daimon begged the noble to reconsider, offering his freedom instead of a hand. The ill-tempered Snapper gruffly agreed, commanding Daimon to work as a lowly servant in his mansion. The noble was cruel, forcing Diamon to work to the point of injury and exhaustion. Yet it was worth it to be in the kitchen of a wealthy elite. What little down time Daimon had, he spent in the kitchen. The staff grew fond of the scrawny Imperial and would feed him left overs from the many feasts and parties the noble hosted. Eventually, they would even teach Diamon how to cook these meals and ask him to purchase groceries, instructing him on how to seek out the finest ingredients at the best prices. Even under such lowly circumstances, Diamon could have been content with this life...if the *accident* hadn't happened.
. . . .
"It's said that when one samples the succulent muscle of a still-palpitating heart, it's hard to go back to being a normal person." - El Conde (2023) . . . . After his employer's mysterious "disappearance," Daimon left the mansion and traveled deep into the cold and remote Cloudscrape Crags. After finding residence in Petrified Winds, he quickly established himself as the clan cook. Diamon's dishes are extravagant and usually include several courses. If one wishes to find the charming drake, they need only to poke their head into the great kitchen, where Diamon will rarely leave and has become a bit plump from sampling his own cooking. Even when he steps out, the aroma of spices and cooked meat follows him like a heavy perfume. He's fond of making tea cakes and meat pastries, especially with rare and unusual cuts of meat. He has stored exotic spices and herbs and hand-picked goods in the kitchen's expansive cellar, sparing no expenses on the most delectable ingredients (much to Altair's dismay). Occasionally his meals contain some particularly unique meat, but every time he's asked what animal was used, he gives a different answer. |
