"I don't know who got the mini illusory me in a bottle, and I'm not sure why, but I find it... cute. Now, to figure out where I can put it, and to see if it's eyes follow people as they walk around the room."
*Overheard, from outside of Magnus' room in the clan's new Lair.*
Nevix: "Wait, what?! Me?! Why am I getting chosen to be the new Clan Leader?! I didn't even nominate myself!"
Magnus, replying with a chuckle: "Well, you don't have to nominate yourself. Other people can nominate you too!"
Nevix: "I've never put myself forward as a Leader! I haven't done anything beyond wander around, getting into battles, and spending some of my extra time with Ascerva and our kids!"
Magnus: "Exactly. You're one of the best battlers we have, you've been around the world, you're the first to develope truly close ties to Clan Ysinkazha, and you're liked by most of the clan. Heck, the only people who didn't vote for you after you got nominated were Kaiya and Gravearmor, and that's because they didn't vote for anyone."
Nevix: "I... that... but..."
Magnus: "You've battled enemies as fierce as any that I have faced. You're friends with most of the clan. You're honest, you know Clan Ysinkazha the best, and you're not the type to shirk from the Duty now that it's been passed onto you."
Nevix just stands silently for a few minutes, various subtle and not so subtle expressions crossing his face, before he sigh, and smiles at Magnus, taking the official badge of office from Magnus, before turning his head toward the doorway, and shouting into the hall:
"Pearly, let the Archives state that I have accepted the position of Clan Leader today, in good faith and good health. Sam, tell Seras, Kina, Rakia and Zinfandel that we're going to have a party tonight!
And no, Magnus, I am NOT taking the cape! You know that's not the official badge of office and I do too!"
