Rinus was the second in a chain reaction following the death of the star system responsible for Briares' creation. In an attempt to harness the remaining raw energy from the collapse, Rinus absorbed a portion of the unstable energy and willed it into magic. His newly formed and frail body could not handle the instability, and his body gave way, becoming tainted with a darkness that he named Fate. He would then later try and rid himself of it, failing in doing so, creating an onyx-black pool overflowing with dark energy. Rinus uses his newly created energy source to sustain himself, without it, his star-drawn energy would not be enough to support his damaged form.
