When Wester was a rather young but enthusiastic hatchling he decided that he was going to try to be a battle dragon like his best friend Ebony. However he soon came to realize that it's difficult to be an effective fighter when you're only the size of a large dog.

He fell into a mild depression. Soon he stopped going with Ebony on Scouting or Defense missions instead staying at his roost in the bamboo of the clan's lair. Then Ebony was mildly injured in an attack because she had no warning of what was coming. She visited Wester and called for him to come down.

"So help me don't make me come up there you batwinged layabout!"

Wester ignored her and wrapped his wings more tightly around his little body.

"FINE!" She roared. Then the bamboo began to wave and shake as she dove into the close growing stalks and promptly got stuck.

"What are you doing Eb?" Wester asked poking his head out from under his leathery wing.

She glared up at him and said, "Proving a point. There are places I can't go because I'm too big. I'm loud. I'm easily seen. You might not be a berserker or able to take on large or multiple foes West. But you can do things I can't. I'm a rubbish scout, I can't make traps, or alarms. I can't see things and report back without getting caught. We need to you fight with us! There's no other way the Garrison Guards are going to survive."

Wester thought for a moment and said, "I can't fight with you. I'm too small and fragile. And honestly I don't want to be spending all my time around giants that boast of the battles they've fought. But if you succeed in creating the Garrison Guards, I will found the Garrison Scouts. And that team and I will be the eyes, ears, distractions, trap builders, and spies to work in tandem with your Guards."

It was agreed, and by the time Ebony had put together her perfect Garrison Guards to defend the clan, Wester had hatched a son, Iroh, and raised him to be the perfect scout. And to this day he and Iroh work with Ebony and her mate Battleborn to guard and protect Trill and his clan.
