Onciel began wandering at a young age; at first this was prompted by the hard time he had seeing in the darkness of Wispwillow Grove, but he quickly realized his condition was degenerative, and if he didn't find a cure, he would eventually be blind. He scoured Sornieth for healers, but every turn came up empty. Eventually, he would hear of a darker path... potentially gaining control of his disease, by undergoing the Plaguebringer's trials.

Multigaze - Major advantage during the Trial of Survival (second trial): A Multigaze dragon is fanatical and resourceful.
[*] Go to Higher or Lower in the Fairgrounds and play a single round.
[*] If you guess correctly, you have survived and have also passed the second trial.
[*] If you guess incorrectly you have failed to force your way through. If an event has happened to insta-kill your dragon then you have died. Your trials end here. Exalt the dragon. If you tried to pass your second trial, then you have not succeeded and must continue taking the second trial as normal.
[*] You may only attempt to force your way forward a single time.

Day 1:
|
Onciel took a long time to eventually settle on a spot, anxious to start the trials. Trepidation wracked his nerves; Eerie had been sure to explain the real dangers of what could happen here. He tried to take comfort in the fact that Eerie would stay relatively near, and had assured him that there was no shame in turning back if Onciel changed his mind. But he wouldn't; Onciel was worthy, he knew it. He just had to prove it. Hours passed, uneventfully. |
Day 2:
|
It took Onciel a long time to fall to sleep that night, and even then, it was intermittent and restless. He had seen violence prior to this, sure, but nothing on this scale of suffering. Creatures kept emerging from the pit... horrible, misformed creatures. Sometimes they were animals, now barely recognizable in form. Others, he thought must have once been dragons. The worst was the sounds; shrieks of pain he had only heard from the dying, but this time without end. He heard skin... he couldn't dwell on it any more. Eerie visited with him, as she said she would. Onciel felt shame at worrying if she would ever come; having been here for a while now, he couldn't have blamed the other dragon if she had failed to show. But she had promised, once a day, for as long as it took. Onciel took comfort in that, and had pride enough not to beg Eerie to stay. |
Day 3:
|
If you receive the BERSERKER battle item then your dragon has broken through its limitations and is eligible to take Glowing Eyes, regardless of the outcome of the other trials. Your dragon may proceed to the next trial immediately. Choose one physical dragon (Scratch attacks) and one magical dragon (Contuse attacks) |
|
On the third day, Eerie found Onciel burning up with fever. He seemed to be having visions, glazed eyes darting and perceiving things beyond her understanding. He shivered violently, and flinched at every sound and touch. Through whatever horrors he was facing, he was whispering prayers; asking Mother to give him the strength to withstand her blessing. "He won't make it, you know," an older dragon told her. She came over and poked him, the skin parting under her slightest touch. "Not an aberration, not a mirror, not even plagueborn," she scoffed. For all of her poisonous tone, she seemed well despite the fact that Eerie recalled seeing her here the previous day, and the day before that. She fixed Eerie with a steely gaze. "You've brought him to his death. Nothing more." Eerie said nothing. She had seen dragons in this state before... none of them had survived. Silently, she prayed to Mother that he would be different. |
Day 4:
|
If an event happens that would insta-kill your dragon, or if you wish to try and pass your second trial at any time, you can try to force your way to victory. Go to Higher or Lower in the Fairgrounds and play a single round. If you guess correctly, you have survived and have also passed the second trial. Result: Pass! |
For the third and last trial, your dragon must survive a series of rounds in the Coli to demonstrate their mastery. Easy mode - Survive 3 rounds. White slime - The venue must be within two levels of your dragon’s current level. Onciel dreamed, and dreamed vividly. He dreamed of his own body, deathly still, and an elderly dragon who sat beside him. He dreamed of the shades of dragons, lurking in limbo; some watched in horror as their bodies withered and succumbed to Mother's gift, and Onciel knew he would soon join them. He dreamed of Mother, poking her head above the putrid broth of the wyrmwound and fixing him with a paralyzing gaze. But he also dreamed of a guardian, who was beside him through all of this. A dragon who urged him to wake up, to not succumb to the dream. She told him that this realm was not for him, not yet. He needed to wake up, and do it now. Even later, he wasn't sure why he had listened. His body blistered with pain in the land of the living, was weak with hunger and thirst and sickness. Maybe it was the guardian, maybe it was the coatl who twisted and writhed with pain when Mother fixed her gaze on her. It didn't matter; he got up. Startling the old dragon who had taken a new spot next to him, he went to the coatl, and laid his claws on her. Instantly, she calmed, and fell into a deep slumber. It was done; he had passed. |
