Chicot

"I don't get it?" Sinbad says, looking between Midas and where they're aiming a cautious look over at the solemn court attendant. "He's a prankster, ain't he? Mischievous and fun?"

Seth looks at his captain with undisguised bafflement. "Are you serious?? Do you have any idea what a court jester really does???"

"No?"

"Evidently!!"

Minas tsks and their fins fold, four eyes watching Chicot with unease. "He's more than he appears," the ranger mutters quietly. "I wouldn't be surprised if he would attempt to compromise our whole mission for the Shade of it."

Chicot laughs but there's no nuance to the sound or mirth. "How right you would be! But boredom begets breaking some rules; I'd care to break my silence if your activities won't amuse me."

It's a threat, or a joke that comes off like a threat-either way, it simply infects each one of them with unease. Calico, despite her smaller size amongst the group, looks pinched as her fins droop, giving the blandly smiling entertainer a frown.

"Please reconsider," she asks quietly, holding Harry to herself while Arnaldo sits warily on her crest. Sinbad and Seth give her a simultaneous look of surprise-it's rare for anything other than a pun or a dare to come tumbling out of her maw. "We're not doing anything wrong here! I promise we mean no harm at all. We just want to know where Nadia is."

The dragon's sharp, electrical orbs fixate on the mirror. Slowly a brow travels upward. "Nadia?" he intones. "That little girl? Whatever do you want with her?" Minas isn't afraid of stepping between his piercing gaze and Calico's lithe frame, glaring the jester with toxic green needles.

"That girl is incredibly important to an ongoing mission," the crackshot seethes. "One that I'd sooner have you silenced for, if you dare to put us in danger."

Chicot doesn't look the least ruffled by the plain warning, instead folding his arms across his chest. He's quiet, his eyes dragging across Seth, Sinbad, Minas, Calico, and even her little animal companions. Eventually, he shrugs, somehow defeated.

"I don't care about whatever you plan to do, if you're so taken with talking to Nadia; like I said, I'm bored." With a smirk, he teases, "It wouldn't do to backstab you before any real fun begins, now would it? That's like spoiling the ending of a play before Act One! No thank you, I'd rather go along for the ride."

Sinbad is reaching for his cutlass, stage whispering to the sharpshooter, "Would it be wrong of me to try cutting him down to size, or do I have your permission to go ahead with that." Minas gives the sea dog a flick of their green eyes before looking back at the bored clown.

"...If he continues to irritate me for five more minutes, sure."
