Bacillus is a corrupted dragon, cursed by an Ancient in her clan; changed from her original appearance and nature into something far more infectious.

As a young dragon, Bacillus was somewhat suggestible. She was raised by kind, hard-working parents who taught her how to believe in the good of the world. So when Bacillus set out on her own, she was eager, but naive. She was drawn into her current clan by its leader, CorruptedStars. While Bacillus was travelling, she heard whispered rumors of a radical Imperial dragon who was fervently preaching his belief that infection and contagion should be spread across the world. According to CorruptedStars, disease culled the weak and highlighted the strong. It was a fascinating idealogy, new and extreme. Bacillus was enraptured. She sought him out, although she knew little of the details of his principles, and soon pledged her support to him.

Bacillus thought she was joining forces with a radical who wanted to strengthen dragonkind. She thought she could change the world by doing so. But when she entered CorruptedStars’ clan, she found a far more dangerous reality.

Bacillus’ memory of her Cursing faded with time, but she could never forget what was done to her. The evidence was burned onto her very skin. For a long time after her Cursing, magic ate at Bacillus’ wings and body, leaving behind bright, colorful scars where once black skin had been. Her opal tertiary, which she had once been so proud of, was half-hidden under it all. In addition, Bacillus became… more than a dragon. She was afflicted, and she felt the price. She stopped needing to breathe. Her curse made it so that she was a physical manifestation of a disease, and would infect any she came in close contact with. Forever a weapon for CorruptedStars, and forever dangerous.

After being cursed, Bacillus changed - not only physically, but mentally. Gone was her naivete and interest in changing the world. She didn’t delude herself anymore. But one private hope of hers never left her; that there was good in dragonkind somewhere.
