To be forgotten, to have every memory of you lost to time, that is when one truly dies.

The power of a story held more honor when it was passed down from generation to generation. Those who are lucky enough to record these tales are held with honor, with those names written immortalized for generations to come. Not all stories are good stories, and not all have endings. Some go on forever, with no division between the segments. A chapterless blur of a life, that was what Carnelia feared her life would become.

Her parents were fascinated in their horde of books and texts. Stories of the great deities and their flights and how the world came to be, and even stranger tales that say all of that was horribly wrong. There was so much to read and so much to absorb. If she was going to be an archivist like her parents, then studying was all she could ever do. Her life was dull. It was as if she looked at everything through a fogged lens. Pages seemed to be endless and words slipped off pages. She found it hard to discern each book from each other, only finding solace in the few that carried pictures. That was, until her family housed guests for the first time in what felt like forever. It was then that she met the trio, and with them listened to their tales. While she was able to get away with listening to their stories for "The sake of research!" she would tell her father, it really was the break she desperately needed. Floren would go on for hours about the colors of leaves and how one could tell what creatures lived in an area just by how a leaf fell. Aqua once talked about a fish that looked like a rock, but definitely still tasted like... well fish. Sol however did not talk about their journey, but instead of all of the things he wanted to see and experience. When they left, she returned to the records to study, and she feared she would never have a moment to enjoy herself like that again.

When she was of age and able, the first thing she did was leave home. The first thing she learned was how cold the world was, like literally. Having the warmth of her home, the Archive and just the general vicinity of her parents she never worried about freezing to death, though, with a little callback to her studies her own magic would make enough flame to keep her warm at night, and soon, enough to weather the coldest tundras. She learned to enjoy the company of small creatures, literally anything that kept her company, though most often it would be much smaller creatures, and she would pass the time caring for them.

It was simply chance that she wandered upon the clan, as if destiny set her to find the trio she once knew as a child. With both the promise of always somewhere warm and dry to sleep, she stayed with them, offering any help she could. She found her calling caring for all of the familiars that came into the grasp of the clan, as well as the hatchlings that grew restless.

Eventually, she would be the one to proposition Sol, and the two would be inseparable. Carnelia talks often about wanting to warm nests of her own, though, getting a straight answer from Sol would be just as much a challenge as trying to get him to share his own thoughts.

____Sometimes everything is all sunshines and rainbows. She's a simple girl to keep happy, and for now, the company of Sol is more than enough, but all of the other small, cute and adorable creatures, familiars and hatchlings do help to!

She can't help but ask, or fantasize about a massive clutch of her own, to which often all Sol has to say, is nothing at all. One could say that him sticking to protecting the clan is his way to busy himself to avoid the answer to that. Carnelia however, knows better. She knows that his devotion to protection is to ensure a safe environment. If he fails now, he would fail then, and what kind of father would that make him? She knows even if he doesn't talk about it much, he too wants a big family.

But she knows what he really wants, is children who never have to worry about who their parents were, and why they were left behind. Not like he had... not like he does.

____The Illustrium were new, only in the matters that concerned how old their name was. It was not a pretigious lineage passed for generations, but one started by a trio who decided to start their own families, and rather than share a name between them, they all chose what to call their own.

The burning passion between great and noble light, and a searing flame would leave many scorched. Even with parents who asked nothing of you, to live along side their long cast shadows you leave you feeling the need to be comparable. Some sought honor in duty, serving one of many gods to protect various lands. Others enjoy their lives as their parents had wanted. Whatever choice was made, the only real request of the Illustrium bloodline, from both Sol and Carnelia, was not to be grand, but to enjoy one's life.

Life is too short to worry about titles, honor, tradition and manners. None were forced to follow in their ancestral footsteps. Nothing was expected of them. But, there was one request should any work up the courage to ask Sol himself what he wanted out of his kin; to always love your family, and to remember that no matter what, even if blood isn't shared, family is forever.
