Biography

"Citrine"
Acolyte of Light

Citrine is an Acolyte from the Temple of Light. As an Acolyte, his job is both that of a scholar who makes sure that the teaching of the Temple lives on through time, and that of a protector of the Artifact the temple holds, the Night Dagger. Like his fellow Acolyte, Citrine does not have a real name and a family, instead he was raised from a young age by the other Acolytes before him and trained to dedicate his life to the Temple.

During the ceremony from which one is granted the title of Acolyte to the Temple, all apprentices are meant to have their eyes taken from them as proof of their absolute faith in the Temple and as a promise to forever turn away from the temptation of the Artifact they swear to protect. However, the senior Acolyte who took care of Citrine took pity on him, on the world that she never got to see and the life he will never get to live, and spared Citrine of his eyes. For this lack of sacrifice, the Temple found out about the act and condemned Citrine's caretaker to a fate worse than death. However, thanks to a spell casted on him, Citrine remained undetected as a junior Acolyte, hiding his eyes behind the standard mask that was meant to conceal the gaping holes all other Acolytes bore. He continued spending his days serving the Temple, keeping his eyes closed to keep the gift granted by the figure closest to a mother to him. However, sometimes during the nights when Citrine is away from the Temple doing one of his errands, when he knows that he's absolutely safe and alone, he would open his eyes and take a peek of the world, drowning in curiosity and wonder of the sights that no Acolytes are meant to see. Too quickly, the moment would end. Citrine quickly slips on his mask and the cold, indifferent guise of an Acolyte and swiftly continues on his way, blending seamlessly into the night.
