Night of the Nocturne

The winter equinox had started and a strange dragon was seen flying over the Shifting expanse. It stopped in some places to drop heavy chests into crevices, holes and dunes. Never looking back at its discards.
One such chest thunked heavily into a pile of old machine parts, directly in front of a Mirror that had been stalking around the pile for about a week in search of the oil that his mate had sent him out to fetch. He leapt back into a ditch and wearily eyed the passing figure. After a while the last speck of its gliding form could not be seen and he crawled out to investigate.

It had dropped a strangely decorated chest. Fangs and claws of rather large size protruded from the lid resembling the maw of a sleeping beast. He carefully tied two cables between the handles on each side and slid the chest onto his back. The oil would have to wait, this was something much more interesting...

When news of the strange new chest spread many a dragon came to see for themselves. Many discussed how they should open it, though some argued if they should open it. Those voices were drowned out when the Mages walked in to investigate the chest. One Fae mage, Gaelic, nodded to the rest and gathered enough elemental force to plow down a Shalebuck in her left hand and stuck it inside the lock. With a loud *BANG* the lid was forced open by a frenzy of twisting vines.

An odd mistral smoke escaped in long rivets obscuring the contents of the trunk. Gaelic peered inside. The inner lining of the chest was fleshy and full of veins while two rounded objects lay half submerged in a dark purple liquid. She carefully picked the first object out of the ooze and fell back from its weight. She moaned in disgust When the ooze dripped on her chest.
