When it comes to artifacts and technologies that the scavengers dig up, she's Chalk's first call to assess the potential viability and restoration potential of the new artifact. Despite her focus into mechanics and electronics, she's read every magical text she can get her claws on so she's a proper specialized generalist. Anyone who questions that contradiction in terms finds out very quickly why nobody ever questions twice around her. You don't spend your days in a lab filled with high voltage electrical equipment and arcane tech without picking up a few tricks that will shock just about anything silly.

As far as assistants go, a new one cycles through Mandy's lab every week or so. They catch on pretty quick that she's bats crazy and want out pretty soon after the second or third time they lose their eyebrows or plumage. Someday she'll fined one who can keep up without going crazy and she'll never let go. There's a running betting pool on how long each new assistant will last.
