P E R S O N A L I T Y

A beautiful appearance hides the wickedness that lies deep within Raine's core. A coquettish and inviting demeanor tends to draw those in who are oblivious to her true vile nature, making it easy to fall victim to her subtle demands. Those who truly know Raine will speak a different tale of her sadistic and self-absorbed nature, of the cruelty she shows those who she has no need for.

H I S T O R Y

Raine is one of the few dragons to live on the very brim of Archfiend's Abyss. Not due to any difference in her nature-No, many would agree that she's just as vicious as the rest of those who were condemned to the darkest pits of the Abyss. Rather, it's due to her sly nature and quick wit that she's permitted to stray further than the others. Her beauty captivates even the most aloof of warriors and her silver tongue keeps her out of trouble with the rest of the Circle of Seraphim.

Found all alone as a hatchling by a small clan of Veilspun located on the cusp of the Tangled Wood and Scarred Wasteland, Raine grew up being doted on by her entire clan for her beauty. Every last strand of hair shone even in the dimmest of lights, and she flew with such grace that even the great Windsinger himself might be envious.

Perhaps her most interesting talent was her ability to control an entire swarm of Veilspun with ease. While most Veilspun were subject to each other's own emotions and pheromones while swarming together, Raine was under no such effect. Her mind rang clear in a swarm of many others, allowing her to influence the stream of other Veilspun by subtle manipulations. In time, as she honed her skills, she found that she could bend entire swarms of other Veilspun to her will by the mere power of suggestion.

In time, Raine began to influence more than just swarms of Veilspun. Other Clans of dragons began to fall victim to her bewitching nature, and those not as easily influenced by her words quickly fell under her hypnotic spells cast by her wings and the magic she wove into her honeyed voice. This began a reign of drastic proportions as Raine began to assimilate more and more clans under her rule, lording over them with iron talons. Even the largest of Imperials was no match for her spellbinding prowess.

While normally content to remain a ruler over such dragons, Raine was quick to crush anyone and anything that caused her ire. With but a few words she could cause her hivemind of dragons to decimate entire clans and turn entire swatches of land to nothing but bare, smoldering ground. As her campaign of terror began to move east towards the Sunbeam Ruins, her ruthless nature soon caught the attention of the Circle of Seraphim.

Sensing the danger of such a manipulative and powerful dragon, a great battle broke out between the Circle of Seraphim and Raine's army of hypnotized dragons. Raine gained the upper claw multiple times, nearly managing to catch several members of the Circle under her thrall more than once. Ultimately, it was Illumina who stopped Raine in her tracks. Blinded by the veil she wore, Illumina was unable to fall victim to Raine's hypnotizing wingbeats and mesmerizing hair.

With a powerful beam of Light, Illumina cast Raine down into the pits of the Abyss where she remains to this day. Raine remains just on the edge of the Abyss, her glimmering form a guiding beacon to those that join the fallen. Many of the Circle of Seraphim refuse to engage with her, lest they fall victim to her hypnotic mane and wings once again...
