Echo is dramatically younger than the other clan elders, but still claims the position as the first Nocturne in clan Kessin. Incidentally, this has caused her to befriend Quetzal, the youngest prior to her arrival, and the two continue to be close friends.

At first, she used her natural inclination for mimicry to learn her role in this clan, but now she wears a helmet at all times to preserve the integrity of her personality and opinions. She'll end up mimicking speech patterns still, but has been very successful in filtering outside influences in this manner
