Biography

The Toxicologist
SAR Poisons Expert

-They/them, unknown.
-The Toxicologist is a secretive type, not for what we suspect are nefarious reasons but more-so the fact that they are almost entirely uninterested in discussing anything that isn't work or their cards when on the clock. They aren't really interested in discussing much period, truly, considering they've never spoken a word in all their time working for SAR. Over the years though, bits and pieces of their story has drifted through the cracks very consistently and keen listeners have built a very believable although mundane image of them. They were born in the Scarred Wasteland (of course), and their parents specialized as medicinal healers rather than magical. They learned much about medicine through observing them and living in the Wastelands, which led to a further interest in the topic of toxins and poisons since the line between a poison and a medicine is very thin. They studied the topic extensively as an independent researcher, only to be approached by SAR eventually when they were leading an investigation in the area that required their knowledge. They were then offered a job due to their expertise. They have been working here ever since as a senior researcher. Truly, their quirks are no reason for them to be anything more than just a guy with some particular interests who understands the importance of separating your work life from your personal life. The Toxicologist is happy to keep on working hard and nothing more.
-The first thing most people observe about the Toxicologist is of course their silence. They only communicate via writing or common draconic sign, and most other noises are really filtered out by their mask anyways. The second thing they might observe after a while is how the Toxicologist never takes their mask off - but by then, you'd understand why they'd be quite nervous about keeping it on at all times in the facility. For some, their quietness and seeming mysteriousness can come across as being quite rude, even amongst the plenty of staff who are keen to stay secretive. But the Toxicologist always gets their work done on time to the necessary standard, never meddles where it isn't their place to do so, and is perfectly content to do extra work that won't eat into their free time or the other work they already need to do. You could still try to talk to them if you really wanted too, sure, they're happy to let you do so as long as you're not stopping them from working. Maybe they'll chime in with a thought or two when their hands are free to offer it, though most advice is going to just be a silent look or a claw on your shoulder. If you want to really socialize, you have to meet them on their level. Ask about work, sure. Or about fungi, they have a very keen interest and will enjoy talking as much as they can before their hands tire. But if you REALLY want to socialize, really truly do, then challenge the Toxicologist to a card game. They've built a small rep as a very avid fan of this indie card game from the Viridian Labyrinth about making animals fight each other or something along those lines, and they are incredibly good at it. They will happily welcome challengers and do all they can to make the game exciting for you both.
-Not Partnered, that anyone knows of...
