Elena

Elena only wants the best for herself. And by that, she means the most expensive, most luxurious items. The tastiest foods. The biggest lair. She wants the best, or she wants nothing at all. And she’s willing to fight for all that she deserves.

For some time, Elena has had the most things and the best things in the clan. She was the dragon everybody looked up to, or envied. And she revels in the attention. As a single dragon, suitors often shower her in affection and gifts. Elena cares mostly about the gifts, the more expensive the better! Life is good, and Elena’s hoard keeps growing with every new suitor that visits her door.

But then, suddenly, it is over.

No more suitors come to Elena’s door. The first day, she doesn’t even notice, but after a week of no new visits Elena begins to feel antsy. What happened? Is there something wrong with her plumage? Have they all just collectively given up? Elena decides to go and investigate, surely this has nothing to do with her. It can’t have anything to do with her. She enters the communal pub and immediately walks to the bartender, someone who has tried to court her before. “Hello.”, she says, fluttering her beautiful eyes at the male dragon behind the counter. He doesn’t even notice her at first, staring straight past her. Only when Elena waves her paw in front of his face he snaps back to reality. “Uh, oh hey Elena. Can I get you something?” Elena frowns. Not even a compliment? She looks behind her, in the direction that the bartender was staring. And there, she sees a beautiful dragon, with wings that glitter like the evening sun and a hide that shifts into a rainbow of colors. Dressed in beautiful clothes. More beautiful than Elena’s. Determined, Elena turns back to the bartender. “Yes, can I get two drinks please? Make them strong.”

Two drinks in hand, Elena approaches the newcomer. She is willing to fight for all that she deserves after all.
