Shortly after Brondelle's Clan was destroyed by the Shade-touched dragon Nebula, the survivors moved from the Viridian Labyrinth into their new home, a sprawling cave in Dragonhome. They elected Peony to lead and set about carving a new life for themselves. The cave had sat uninhabited for decades, no clan had tried to settle in the barren desert. In the center of a large room, some dragons found a large pile of crumbly looking stone, oddly reminiscent of Gembond, but clearly a solid mass.
They began to smash it out, to clear the space. after a few huge blows, part of the stone cleaved away to reveal something glimmering inside. The dragons moved slower, clawing away the rock now, not wanting to damage the valuable gems. Suddenly, a mass of stone gave way, revealing an unconscious Snapper within!
Chaos ensued. "She's breathing!" "What is she doing in here?" "That rock, is that Gembond?" "Oh Earthshaker it is." "Get the healers!"

It was an arduous process, freeing Amethyst of her tomb. Mercifully, Peony explained that she had entered a comatose state, probably to try and preserve life while trapped. They worked all night to free her under the healer's supervision. As much Gembond as possible was removed, but some had to remain. Parts of her had crystallized after so long in the rock, and she shimmered like a geode.
Peony's skills and herbs alone weren't enough to save the Snapper, she had to use her magic. Even so, it was days before she awoke. When she was strong enough, she shared her tale with the enthralled clan.

Amethyst had been a nomadic dragon, roaming the Sornieth contentedly. Along her travels, she had been bitten by an Onyx Cobra, famous for their venom which causes the onset of Gembond. Feeling the gems begin, she sought help. She found nobody. As the gems grew, they became heavier and heavier, and before long it was all the exhausted dragon could do to drag herself into the cave. There she slept, for a long, long time, growing her own tomb. Later journeys to clans in the area proved that she had been in the stone for decades. The clan dubbed her a 'Geode', after the rocks that were split open to reveal crystals within.

After her recovery, Amethyst decided to join the clan. Nomadic life had its appeals, but her ordeal had turned her off solitary adventuring for now. She became leader of the clan's digging team. Not only does she assist the clan in digging for resources and excavating parts of the cave system, but she often journeys off to follow rumors that may lead to other Geodes like herself.

Chalcedony, another Geode, heard of her exploits and came to meet her, and she became fast friends with the old storyteller. Eventually her search led to Citrine, who became her mate. These three were the first of many Geodes who would eventually find each other, and after the dissolve of the Cottontail Clan, the Geodes, with their affinity for stone, were naturally drawn to life within Snastle, the giant roaming snail. Now Clan Snastle numbers dozens of Snappers, and Amethyst does her best to find others that might still be trapped.

Amethyst was fairly young when she was trapped in the stone. She had to slow down considerably while recovering, she still tires easily due to muscle loss while trapped. But even in early recovery when she could barely walk, she was never without a smile and a joke, usually at her own expense. She's determined and passionate, had has become well loved in the clan for her excitable and chirpy nature.

Snuffles the Deepmine Aardvark

Snuffles accompanies Amethyst on her digging routes, and is a fantastic help in Geode hunting. The glowing mushrooms on his back help to illuminate dark caves, and his sensitive snout can sniff out a dragon even behind layers of stone. Amethyst makes sure to keep a pouch full of tasty grubs for all his hard work, and he follows wherever she leads.
Anyone willing to give him a juicy bug and a belly rub is best friend material, as far as Snuffles in concerned.
