Biography

Clytemnestra was the wife of Agamemnon and Queen of Sparta. The Orestesia she is a femme fatale, French for "fatal woman." She murdered Agamemnon, her second husband, and the Trojan princess Cassandra. However, in The Odyssey, Homer shows her as a more subdued woman.

Her name is translated in one of two ways, either "famed for her suitors" or is seen as a derivative of the Greek word for contrive.
