NORVIA: THE ASTRONOMER
Artist / Mage / Mate to Majesty

Norvia has always been different. She is unusually adept at channeling Arcane energy for a Shadow dragon, and it often puts the dragons around her ill-at-ease. With the energy radiating from her, she always seems a bit ethereal. Some dragons interpret this in such a way that they view her as untrustworthy, others see her as magnetic or intriguing. As such, she found it a challenge to leave her native clan - the dragons she'd grown up with were used to her aura. Nevertheless, she wasn't content. It didn't do her any good to try and make it on her own, as she always grew far too lonely, and when she tried to stay with her clan she always found herself feeling horribly restless. After a considerable amount of time, she became resigned to hopelessness that she would never find the place where she belonged.

Finding the most comfort in her magical ability, she turned to religion as a last resort in finding her own happiness. Norvia wholly devoted herself to honing her magical skill through prayer. She often dreamed of leaving Sornieth to join with the stars, the black blanket of shadowy space calling out to her. In this way, she spent her days asleep and her nights often on her back, wings splayed, gazing at the sky. It was sudden that one day, she began feeling oddly at peace with herself. Deep down, she felt something big coming. It was a mystery exactly what, but she knew it would be good. The feeling culminated in her leaving her bed suddenly one day. The dragons in her clan tried to stop her, but she appeared to be sleepwalking and nothing they could do would wake her. None of them thought to follow her when she took to the skies, writing it off as one of her eccentricities.

Norvia spent an unknown amount of time flying; it was clear she was beginning to grow weary, but she wasn't quite exhausted. Her flight ended in her reaching her new clan and collapsing, asleep. That clan was Realgar, situated on a hilltop near the Beacon in the land of the Lightweaver. The clan protectors and healers took care of her until she woke up, and upon that event she smiled, sighed and said. "I'm home."

Norvia's role in Realgar since has been to teach magic and astronomy to the young adults and hatchlings. She loves being around children and watching their eyes widen at her descriptions of constellations, other planets and the birth and death of stars. At night she still stays awake to gaze at the heavens, sometimes painting gorgeous tableaus of the night sky to hang in her portion of the lair. She is a quiet and solemn dragon but is generally very well-liked. Rodran and Rozma, having been born in Arcane, understand her quite well.
