The Awakening

Sharpened Scythe

Quote goes here. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.

Sharpened Scythe
. A mighty sound woke Reaper from his slumber, one he was intimately acquainted with.

One he used to be afraid of, never could fathom that such a sound could come out of anything or anyone. Especially one he’s dedicated his life to. But all that was in the past now, was the sound of a part of the body that rests next to him. It was a sign, an alarm, a warning that if he didn’t act fast, a mess would be made whether or not he could stop it.

The sound? It was the sound of Ghost’s everlasting hunger.

When Reaper first met Ghost, he thought she was strange. But not in a way that he was frightened by her or weirded out. She had an energy about her that had a little edge, a slight darkness that drew him to her. She had a smile that was slightly sinister, eyes that were filled with shadows, and a scent that smelled like swamp water and mud. Any sensible dragon would stay away from a being like Ghost and would think of her as a bad omen or the source of their downfall if they weren’t so lucky. But Reaper wasn’t a sensible dragon, nor was he aware of what he was getting to.

To him, Ghost was nothing short of perfect.

Even when she was covered in blood and visceral, the mauled body of a Sickle Kamaitachi lay at her feet. The Beastclan was preventing her from hunting and in a fit of hungered rage, she snapped at him and tore him to pieces. Reaper watched her do it, the scene happening so fast he wasn’t able to stop her. He watched the Sandsurge devour the corpse whole, only a puddle of blood and a pile of bones left from the scene. Ghost gave him a toothy smile, her teeth and mouth still stained with blood. Reaper slowly opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by a booming growl, the other Sandsurge’s face turning from smug to sheepish.

zRba1D1.gif “Are…are you still hungry?” He asked her incredulously, Ghost letting out a letting out a huff.

“I am always hungry.”

Another loud growl snapped Reaper from his reminiscing, Ghost starting to stir from her slumber. He had to act fast, otherwise, she would find herself in a murderous rage and attack everything and anything in her vicinity. Except for Reaper, she had enough consciousness to not cause him harm. Lucky for him, they lived in the Mire, and there were plenty of nocturnal animals to hunt. Never in his years of living did Reaper find himself hunting actual beasts to satisfy his mate’s hunger, risking his life a couple of times just to take down a few that were even bigger than himself. He’s had a couple of close calls, Ghost weakening herself just to make sure he was nursed back to health before letting her rage take over her and finish the job he started. She was a force to be reckoned with and it only made him love her even more.

“How did the love of my life know that I love Psywurms more than anything? I don’t remember telling you that.”

Reaper set two Brilliant Psywurms and Muckbottom Catfish in front of his mate’s feet, the meat enough to satisfy her for at least now until they would have to hunt later in the day. He was sporting a few bruises on his hide, nothing a simple potion couldn’t fix. Reaper shrugs nonchalantly, giving his mate a wide grin.

He watched as she gorged on his catch, the sounds of flesh ripping and bones cracking in her powerful jaws couldn’t lessen his love for her.
