To protect her family/clan, she struck a deal with "the devil". As part of the deal, her partner gains the powers of a gladiator and magic capacity of a strong mage but in the form of a "monster". The "Monster" form grants the host immense brute strength and magic conjuring but causes the host to lose sanity, morality and reasoning. In attempts to control this power, Wright has become a "stabiliser", transferring the unwanted side effects of her partner's monstrous form to her.
