ALANI Stoker – Hard-working | Quiet | Confident |
Gets coal from Hazel after she mines it, and throws it in the furnace to keep the fire roaring and the dragons warm in the winter. She usually has a lot of free time during the summer, but can get very busy during winters, making sure to keep the furnace stocked with coal. She also tends to the campfire during the summer nights, throwing in extra firewood. Overall, she enjoys working to keep everyone safe and happy.
Although she loves fancy things, and even wears a bow, fillet and scarf, she can never keep anything clean and is almost always covered in soot. She doesn't mind however, as she usually spends time alone anyways. She prefers to work in the background, never being the center of attention. She doesn't lack confidence however, and doesn't mind appearing in front of others, soot and all, if she is needed. Usually when one of her garments gets too dirty or is destroyed in the fire accidentally (though she is usually so careful that there are no problems), the clan members usually gather up the treasure to buy her a new piece. Her favorite colors are orange, red and yellow, so she rarely wears different colors.
The furnace is located underground bordering one of the tree's massive roots, so her area is never clean, but she tries to keep things as tidy as possible. She and Hazel are usually the only ones allowed in the furnace room at any time, for safety purposes. Novak designed the furnace to run through the tree in a non-harmful way, so the tree doesn't catch on fire. He and Caspian make regular trips to do maintenance on the furnace pipes for upkeep. He also has a way to monitor the pipes, and how much heat they let out, from his 'control room' for general observation purposes.
Alani doesn't live in the furnace room and has her own room in the tree, but she spends so much time in the furnace room, she feels it's closer to a home. She gets cold very easily, and enjoys sleeping by the roaring fire to keep warm.
Her left eye is blind, giving it the appearance of an ice dragon's eye, though her actual element is fire, and her other eye is normal. Because of this feature, some dragons through the years have nicknamed her "Fire and Ice".
