"Ruthless, sure. I'm ruthless. But I'm not being mean. I can see the exact point at where I am, and the point that I am trying to get to, and looking at the route that will take us there. When I can see the solution, it's the only thing that matters."

High Queen Farland is tactful in everything he does, but is also ruthless in getting what he wants. Farland can see the points between A and B, and finds the quickest way to it. He knows what needs to happen, and goes for it. He loves his family to no end. High King Amber and Princess Dawnbreaker are the lights of his life. High Queen Farland is usually seen with one or both of his family close by in public spaces. He is known to be highly protective of his daughter, while also assuring she would never become corrupt with her newfound power in the Kingdom. High Queen Farland has a habit of attempting to self sacrifice himself for many causes, but King Amber is always there to make sure he doesn't do that. High Queen Farland has few personal friends. Farland hatched alone. His parents had been nearby, but they weren't alive. They had simply gotten too cold, the ice magic around them failing to help them brave the cold when they were too tired to keep it up. He grew up entirely on the streets, being ignored and pushed away from most civilization, forced to beg or steal for every scrap of what he had. Fighting wasn't uncommon, and a few of the kinder dragons who were also on the streets helped train him when they could. By the time he was 12 he was able to fight with some adults and win. He was deemed ruthless, and when a visiting fire dragon only calling himself Amber helped him against an adult he couldn't win against, Farland was expecting the worst. But Amber was far kinder than any other dragon he'd been around, and the two began to meet up every time Amber visited the Southern Icefields.

Farland was never unaware of the political tensions between the Ice and Fire Flights, he was just never really bothered by it, deeming that if the Ice Flight went to war, then there'd be more opportunities for himself to thrive, and more options to gain an honest living. So when Amber began to ask about it, and the possibilities of their own friendship being at risk, Farland was just unconcerned. "I have ice magic, but I've got nothing to really tie me to the Ice Flight. If they want to start a pointless war when they can't even take care of their own, what's the point?" He hadn't understood why Amber had looked so determined at the time, and they continued to hang out as normal.

Farland never expected for Amber to finally introduce himself as the Prince of the Ivory Enigma Kingdom. It was such a shock and Farland nearly never spoke to him again, but Amber justified it with a hard truth. "If you'd known when we first met, you would've run away and I would never have seen you again. You're my only friend who doesn't have to pretend to be nice to me all the time. You're the only one who doesn't have to hold back. I appreciate it more than you could imagine." And Farland knew that if he didn't have Amber with him, he'd be feeling so much worse. He'd felt so much better when Amber was around. "You better not have any more secrets you're hiding." Farland tried to joke, but he meant it. "I don't have any more secrets, I mean, ones that I'm aware of. There's some I don't even know are meant to be secret."

They continued to meet up after that, even as Amber became a Jarl within the Fire Flight. Though he's busy, Amber does visit, and invites Farland to visit his Hold, and Farland does. It's weird for him at first, but the Fire Flighters are friendly enough when they realize he's not trying to cause trouble. The ones that aren't friendly soon learn that Farland trying to cause trouble is way worse and begin to ignore him. During his time as a Jarl, Farland and Amber begin to date. Farland began to basically live in Amber's Quarters, and made a friend with Kin. Kin was nice, though very dedicated to his job.

Being the High Queen of the Ivory Enigma Kingdom was a huge change for him, but an even bigger change for the Ashfall Wastes as a whole.
