His father a trickster, his mother a healer, and Moor was nothing like either of them. The headstrong little pearl had a sharper tongue than claws, and in one solid spat with a particularly cranky imperial- he was thrown into a river, and washed away. He doesn't know if anyone looked for him- or what became of his clan- all he knew was that he was washed from toiling waters into the still and murky land between the tangled wood and the sunbeam ruins. There, a coatl found him, and pulled him from the water and onto the weedy bank. Osha couldn't speak, but she could scratch her name in the dirt of the path, and explained that she was going on to the fringes of a clan not far from there. Moor decided to follow, and along the way he learned the hums and hisses that were Osha's language. Now he speaks for her, and she protects him from any other frisky imperials.
Surprised by a passing clan, a few dragons asked residence near their lands for the night, without being attacked and their cargo taken. Permitted to sleep there, the dragons nestled themselves some distance away, but close enough to justify their asking. Curious as ever, Moorblatt met their Leader the next morning, as she quietly fished by herself, while her apparent mate was out hunting. Speaking with him, she learned of his talent for translation between species. From a Coatl's quiet hums to a Mirror's body language, Lucille found him to be useful to her clan. Knowing he wouldn't want to leave his home and his friends, she instead manipulated him and another clan member into following them as far as the Light border, claiming they needed aid in protecting their most precious cargo - unhatched eggs. Their conscious not allowing them to decline, Moorblatt and Astraeus followed them and aided them in their journey. However, along the way, Moorblatt found himself more and more enthralled with the Queen. She was someone who matched his wit easily, and seemed to have no qualms with spending time with him. He worried about when he was going to return to his clan and, more importantly, Osha, but something drew him to continue following them. Finally, after some time, they all reached the edge of the territory. Spending one last night there, Moor found Lucille perched just outside camp, as if waiting for him. Succumbing to her requests, Moor agreed to accompany her to her clan and to join her. One interesting night later, Moor glanced behind him one last time, before stepping into a foreign land under a new ruler, an outsider once again. And stuck in what was perhaps a dangerous situation, when the Queen later lays a nest, that none of her previous lovers were the father of. |
