While Alette isn't as warm and easy as her mate, Pip, is with the children they foster, she is kind enough. She sees to it that the hatchlings are kept safe, warm, and fed and that their home is in good repair. She gives Pip the stability that he sometimes lacks, and between the two of them, the hatchlings have the best chance possible.

Out of all the hatchlings they've fostered, only one has been adopted—PlotTwist, the eternal child. She requires specialized care, after all, and Pip has become smitten with the stories the hatchling tells herself.
