Biography
Araga
Warrior
"I... don't want to be alone anymore." Originally part of a large clan in the Windswept Plateau, Araga decided to leave when it became clear that he couldn't fit in with the others. While he was strong enough to have a high ranking in the clan, family meant very little to him and the idea of taking a mate was against every part of his being. After leaving, he traveled alone for a year before finding his way into the Sundial Terrace, where a small clan was forming. At first he was reticent to join, reminded of the clan he had left, but over time he grew to at least tolerate the presence of the others, provided that they didn't bother him. In order to avoid interaction with the other dragons, he made his lair on the outskirts of the clan, as far away from the others as possible. He spent his free time honing his skills as a fighter, while doing his duty to serve the clan by helping to patrol the borders of the clan's territory. One day, though, much to his surprise he found two dragons waiting for him at his lair when he returned from yet another patrol stint. He ignored the two for weeks before finally acknowledging their presence. As time passed, he realized that he enjoyed spending time in their company, even allowing them to join him in his training sessions (although he still won't let them patrol with him). Before he knew it, they were so much a part of his life that it seemed almost natural to extend an invitation to live with him in his lair. |
Although he will rarely say it aloud, they have become what he considers to be close friends. Araga will only allow Amerit and Rukanko to tease him without challenging them to a duel, and on rare occasions actually enjoys it when they baby him for being the youngest of the trio. While he still avoids most of the other dragons in the lair, Araga has warmed up to them slightly since befriending Amerit and Rukanko. The only other dragon in the clan whose presence he can tolerate is Hukaksu, probably because the snapper was also reluctant to interact with others. While he prefers to be alone over the company of most other dragons, Araga enjoys spending time with the few he does like more than anything else. Although he finds it hard to confide in others, Araga has to admit that Amerit and Rukanko both listen when he does eventually go to them with problems. In exchange for their trust and friendship, Araga has begun to confide in them more often. His friends are very important to him, so he is continuously trying to find ways to show them without telling them flat out (which would be embarrassing). Deep down he is afraid that they will one day leave him if he doesn't make some effort, although he is unused to having friends. Hobbies: Like most wildclaws, Araga likes to beautify his surroundings, the problem being that he is not very artistic. After trying his claw at a variety of different "crafts", he finally found one he loved when Amerit suggested gardening. Although most plants seem to die still, he has gotten cactus growing down pat (perhaps because they can survive when he doesn't water them every day). Cacti decorate the surfaces in his lair as a result. Name Origin: Araga is the latin name for a type of cactus. Don't ask me which one... I saw it in a store and now can't seem to find it anywhere, but it had a red flower on top. :D |
