gravity's brother. there are lots more siblings in the family, but gravity and dyson have always been exceptionally close to each other. which of the two is older is subject to intense and riveting debate - even gravity doesn't know for sure, and if dyson does, it's keeping quiet about it for the bit.

dyson is the quintessential scatterbrained inventor. he's off in his own world half the time, and even when they aren't waist deep in a daydream, they're prone to distracting themself mid-sentence and stopping a conversation in its tracks to excitedly write down an idea he just had. dyson will hardly ever use one word where seven and a half will do the trick, and even more explains just one thing at a time when it could be following several trains of thought at once. these quirks can make them overwhelmingly confusing to hold a conversation with, but sprinkled in between inexplicable flashes of inspiration and lengthy rambles about what he was reading/eating last night is a deep and sincere consideration for and interest in all those dyson considers its friends.

his body armour, which he's affectionately nicknamed The Apparatus, is a home-made prosthetic device that reroutes his magic to replace the nervous functions in his wings and frontmost legs, which they severely and permanently injured as a kid [come up with details later; basically just paralysis due to major nerve injury, comparable to real life spinal cord damage]. building the apparatus helped transform a casual, mostly screwing around-based interest in tinkering into a fully fledged passion, and dyson now dedicates its time to pushing his gadgetry to the limit. they've continued to make prostheses for dragons with similar disabilities whenever its skills are needed, though they have trouble resisting the urge to throw in some blinking lights or flame-spewing decals.
