Biography
The Charlatan
Amidst the bustling crowds and cries of vendors hawking their wares, a pair of shrill voices cut through the cacophony:
“Two heads, one mind! One tells the truth, the other lies! Figure out which one and earn a fabulous prize!”
Right leans out of their shared booth and cackles manically as they single out any foolish enough to turn at the sudden outburst. Content to let their partner steal the spotlight, Left lazily beckons any who stray too close with a curled claw and devilish grin. The two work in tandem, luring hapless circusgoers into their elaborate web. Together, they are Jester, (clan name pending)'s foremost peddler of false hopes and dreams.
“Riddles spun; fortunes won! Step forward and choose - what’ve you got to lose?”
Intoxicated by the smoke and incense, the clattering dice, the whirring prize wheels, Jester’s victims fall deeper and deeper into their trap, losing themselves in the frenetic circus atmosphere.
“(three sentence rhyme riddle but make it impossible)”
With the stage set and pieces arranged, the curtain rises on the final act. (some are quick to respond, others take time to ponder). No matter the answer, it always ends the same: a gleeful cackle from Right and a morose shake of the head from Left. Too bad, so close, not quite. Meaningless platitudes fall on deaf ears as Jester counts their inevitable winnings. After all, it’s a rigged game.
They both lie.
