'Fierce' is maybe not the word best used for Thistle. But 'dandy'? Absolutely.
Born of the wildclaw clans of the overgrown north, Thistle learned early on that winners of physical fights got whatever they wanted, and that she…was not a winner of physical fights. She toyed instead with her imagination, with herbs, and with the wild-growing magic that inhabited the forest alongside her fearsome siblings and cousins.
And then one day, in a world primed to forget about her… Thistle disappeared. She couldn't win against her clan members or their enemies on their terms, but she wasn't interested in those. She still retained the ferocious strength of will inherent to wildclaws, but it was for other things entirely. So she traveled, instead: learning new fashions, new cloths, new stones. New magical systems, new gods, new tools for harnessing that power.
It all lead her to stumbling into this new clan's woods. They were an unusual, loose group, nothing like the aggressively-focused one she grew up in. There was room for her to not fight for territory, there was room for her to be unlike the other members. Gradually, Thistle settled into the cottage itself, wandering the woods and beaches nearby to gather components and practice spellwork.
