Biography
Stormdragon wrote on 2016-07-07:
But no
Imagine you're an unhatched egg, a hatchling waiting for the right conditions, or at least somewhere safe to come into existence. You have no idea of the world, you're but an egg. Then one day you're hatched, you see the loving faces of your clanmates around you, and you're praised. "What a lovely baby!" They cry, "It has such beautiful colors! So much potential!" You may not know what this means, but you can tell the attention is positive, and you are cuddled into the arms of your adoptive parent. On your next birthday you are given three gifts, scrolls. You are old enough to know what these are, and how much they cost your clanmates. They are beaming as they watch your new patterns set into your colors. When you go out of the clan to visit the market others marvel at your coloration, and they somehow know you came from an unhatched egg, which brings on even more praise. Your next birthday you are given another gift, a breed change scroll, and it's the breed you've always wanted to be! You use it, and instantly feel at home in your new body, like this is what you were always meant to be.
Years pass, you hang around the lair, occupying yourself with your favorite craft. You begin to want hatchlings you think, as a few of them tumble past you. You go to your clan leader to ask permission to find a mate, but you're declined. "You're a gen one! Nobody will buy you if you have offspring!" They scoff. Buy me? You think. Are you only in this clan to generate revenue when eventually you're sold off to the highest bidder? You go off to sulk in your room for a few days. You thought you were special. You thought this clan loved you, and you could conquer your dreams here, and show off your accomplishments to your loving clanmates. It was all a beautiful lie.
Eventually, you're not sure how much time has passed, you hear a stranger and your leader talking as they approach you. There is a number of heavy bags around the stranger's belt, full of treasure and gems most likely. "Here they are!" Your leader grins as they gesture to you, "aren't they beautiful! Look at the colors and genes! I bought the scrolls myself!" You feel terrible, your leader is talking about you like you're a handmade sculpture. "Hm. Yes." The stranger replies. They untie all the bags from their waist and hand them over to your leader. Your leader looks at you, "You're a part of this dragon's clan now. Go with them, you're no longer welcome to stay here."
You follow the stranger, what else is there to do? You've been kicked out- no - sold out of your clan. Your friends in the clan wave goodbye to you. Did they know you would eventually be sold off because of your gen one status and colors? You're led across Sornieth, your new home is vastly different than your first home. "Welcome to our clan, I want you to meet someone." They take you to a dragon, one of the opposite gender, and they take your breath away. It's like staring in a slightly distorted mirror. Their colors are a few off from yours, shown off wonderfully through different genes.
If you accept, this is your mate, and you are in your forever home.
