History

That wasn't always his name.

Though born into Plague, as a Sandsurge, he found himself naturally drawn toward technology, and ended up making the trek all the way to Carrion Canyon to feed his ambition. Tempted in by an old dragon who promised success, he allowed himself to be subjected to various experiments in the hopes that one day he would be found worthy. In hopes that one day he would be found complete. After several years of being chastised for "failures" beyond his control, he began plotting his attempt to escape.

It took him 29 attempts, but on one clear, sunny morning, grievously wounded though he was, he ran from the Shifting Expanse with screams of "apostate!" at his back. He gripped the title in his claws like a cherished prize. Apostate. A new name for a free dragon.

Apostate proceeded to throw himself into the Necromantic Trials. Some might have thought he was throwing his life away, but he knew better. And though he may not have "tested" quickly enough to become a Necromancer, he did conquer the plague coursing through his veins in spite of his injuries.

Will, impressed by his tenacity and interested in a Sandsurge Necroservus, took Apostate under his wing. He fashioned cybernetic enhancements to replace what was lost or damaged, and powered them with Plague magic. Though the cybernetics cause variable sores and rashes where they attach to his body because of the excess of Plague, Apostate still finds himself grateful every day.

Apostate has a strong enough dedication to learning that he frequently comes off as a know-it-all.

For reasons unknown to most, Apostate has an incredibly selective diet and will not eat most of what is typical for his species.
