Shjalva

Shjalva cares not for the fire itself, nor even for forging, or the beauty of lava. She came for the ash. For the smoke. For the glow of the flames and the way the air wavers in different temperatures and ebbs, making the grey and white clouds ripple. She would be, if such a thing were possible, a smoke dragon- as much a child of flame as of the wind. She is the primary scout of the clan, and she loves moving between the heavy, gritty layers of air on the ground and the cleaner, thinner layers high above. She has learned the feel of each level and each region, and she also acts as something of a basic meteorologist, warning her clanmates when the atmosphere shifts, when heat spikes, when the volcanoes have unusual activity. These things may seem like they ought to be known without an informant, volcanic activity isn't usually subtle- but the smoke is often so thick that the dragons cannot even see across the lava flow which encircles their territory.
