Clan Leader

An unlikely leader, considered capable by some, and incompetent but well-intentioned by others. He has a decently friendly personality, despite his anxious and irritable nature. Though he is generally compliant and yielding towards his fellow founder and partner, Evelyn, he has a bit of a temper; however, it manifests more as short but frequent outbursts rather than anything remotely close to threatening. He detests his submissive nature, and wishes to be treated as an equal to his partner. Regardless, he is generally liked among the clan, though some dragons may have differing opinions on his leadership.

Gabrielle’s main role in the clan is a representative leader, while Evelyn handles more of the unsavory parts of being a leader. Though Gabrielle can be a bit irritable, he values his clanmates deeply, viewing them as the family he never got to have as a young dragon. Additionally, Gabrielle is an amateur botanist; though he has no use for plant life himself, he was always fascinated by it. This is one of the only remaining interests from his adolescence. Specifically, he is interested in bringing more plentiful plant life to the Wastelands, though he hasn’t been very successful. Other dragons will often venture out into the distant Woodlands to retrieve plants for the herbivores of the clan.

In the beginning, it was always Gabrielle and Evelyn. They were inseparable - or rather, Gabrielle was inseperable from Evelyn - though this wasn’t necessarily due to their chemistry. They were both born in the Wastelands, becoming unlikely friends at a young age, before becoming on and off romantic partners, eventually keeping their relationship alive for the sake of the clan. Gabrielle feels that, despite their numerous differences, Evelyn is the light in his darkness, one of the few consistencies in a world that has gone awry. He believes the two of them to be soulmates; Evelyn does not share this sentiment, being the more realistic of the two.

Despite his status as second-in-command, Gabrielle is the reason for the clan’s existence. The more sociable of the two founders, Gabrielle would come across other dragons who felt as lost as he had, most of these being dragons who stumbled upon the Wastelands seeking an escape from their original homes. The number of these dragons continued to grow week by week, each seeking belonging amongst a diverse group of dragons. Things were getting unruly, and Evelyn knew she had to step in to bring order to things. Thus, a clan was formed, and Gabrielle finally felt that he had somewhere he could belong. It wasn’t what he had envisioned as a young dragon, but it had become his solace, a comfort in the decaying Wastelands.

Gabrielle values consistency in his life. These consistencies, more often than not, are negative aspects of his life (whether he realizes this or not), but he values them nonetheless. The Wasteland is his home, though it didn’t always feel that way. As he grew older, he came to terms with the fact he wasn’t born into a peaceful life - eventually, he decided he’d rather continue living in the Wastelands, surrounded by a rot and decay he never felt a sense of belonging in, than have one of his few constants be ripped away from him. Though he’d never realize it, he was more at home with the rot than ever, submitting himself to a life in the Wastelands. His loneliness began to diminish as the clan grew in number, and now, despite still not being entirely fond of the Wastelands, he at least feels like he belongs somewhere.

While Evelyn trained their daughter Shiloh for the real world, mentally and physically, Gabrielle was the one to give her attention and warmth. Though they both love Shiloh equally, Gabrielle is better with showing affection due to his sociable nature. Regardless, he often finds his attention split between his clan and his daughter.
