Rot is a beautiful thing, isn't it?

Rot is a beautiful thing, isn't it? The turning of the leaves from drab greens to brilliant reds and oranges. Dissolving flesh giving way to bones as pale and stunning as the full moon. No grander or selfless a fate than to provide sustenance for the earth. ________________________________________
 		Take me for example. I am but a humble dragon, yet my destiny is grander than any hero of history. For what hero could say they've fed billions? Been the reason for the flourishing of so many lives? Yet, I will not be written about; not be lauded for my acts of selflessness. And for that I am grateful. My flesh gives sustenance to the earth, brings life to a once barren clearing. Some may call it...grotesque, but it is far from that. It is life itself, growing and becoming new. That is reward enough, knowing that my sacrifice gave life to so many. I shall rest here in my clearing, forgotten by everyone, even those who fed upon me will not know my name. But it is no matter. My spirit will whisper through the branches, my life force tilled into the soil, my bones forever in their resting place among the life flourishing around it. That is reward enough.

Can you smell the decay, see the turning of the leaves?
Maw is the crunch of leaves underfoot, the dampness of the dirt under the piles of decaying matter, the smell of old things becoming something new. They are rot, they are growth, they are life, they are death. Maw's only goal in their long long life is to provide, and they did it in the most noble way they could, by giving all of themselves back to the earth from which they came. It is their destiny and they gladly embrace it.
