Fern resides in Underwood, a forest like region in the middle of the underworld. This part of the kingdom is where lost souls travel, forever losing themselves in the thick, sky covering trees. Fern has been in charge of guiding lost souls to the Underwood even before Meteor's predecessor was on the throne, and was one of the first dragons Meteor would trust; becoming the new ruler's aid and mentor. Fern can't remember what his life was like before the underworld. He does, however, remember his mother telling him to be careful, as it was very cold outside. No matter how hard he tries, he can't remember anything else from that time, nor his own mother's face. Just her embrace. In the Underwood, not only is Fern a guide, but he also chills wines and grows the majority of the fruits that get processed into juices, alcohols, and pastries. As one of the original wineries, half of Underwood is covered in agriculture and storehouses. Fern doesn't like alcohol himself, but enjoys a bottle of grape juice every once in a while. Every once a year, he and Cinnamon take a trip to the overworld, mostly shopping, but they also eat out as the overworld is constantly changing. His opinion to Sakura is positive. He views her as a very sweet dragon who can help Meteor feel happy. As a goddess of berries, she flies by and helps with plant growth and providing fruits that struggle to grow in the underworld, like apricots and cherries. Even Fern doesn't know why they can't grow. |
